Co-exhibitor of PIEMONTE LAND OF WINE
Corino Giovanni is a family business based in La Morra, UNESCO world heritage, in the middle of Langhe.
We're an historical winery and our first traces in Annunziata (hamlet of La Morra) are from 1952, when Celeste, grandfather of the actual owner Giualino, moved with wife and kids to work as a sharecropper. At the time we were a mixed farm and we cultivated vineyards but also other fruits and we were breeding animals as well.
The focus on vineyards came few years later, when Giovanni, son of Celeste, even if most of the grapes were sold and just a small part was vinified for relatives and friends. In the mid of 1980's Giuliano started to work in the farm and bottled the first hectolitres of Barolo.
1987 is a year of change for the winery: we started a new path of winemaking, we kept the tipicity of Barolo but we started making the first selection of the grapes in the vineyard, short maceration with controlled temperature and ageing in small barrels (barriques) aiming at the best possbile quality. Despite that for few years we kept selling a part of the grapes to have money to invest in winery equipment, that was happening until 1995 when we vinified the whole production. From that moment we started to grow thanks to our constant research of quality and will to get better year by year.
Nowadays the winery is run by Giuliano with his wife Stefania and the children Veronica and Andrea. The whole family is involved in the entire production process: from the work in vineyards to the selling, passing through the vnification and winery works.
Our surface of land is 9.5 ha, all in La Morra area, cultivated only with indigenous variety such as Barbera and Nebbiolo with a total production of 50 thousands bottle/year.
Our production filosophy is based on simple principles as respect of nature with a carefull interest on consumer's health and ours since we work vineyards in first hand. Vinification processes happen with the greatest attention on the expression of the terroir since we want to represent in the best way the combination between our land, human and vines.
