Co-exhibitor of AOC Châteauneuf-du-Pape
In Provence, for 5 generations, at the foot of the Uchaux Massif and Mont Ventoux a familial estate invites you to discover its vineyard. Today Château Simian consists of 26 hectares of vines: 7 ha of AOC Châteauneuf du Pape, 10,5 of AOC Massif d’Uchaux and AOC Côtes du Rhône, and 8,5 of Vin de Pays (IGP). The vineyard’s present owners, Jean-Pierre and Florian Serguier, in a constant search for quality, makes every effort to work in perfect harmony with nature. In 2008, we began to take an organic and bio-dynamic approach to the running of the vineyard: wherever possible, interventions are made taking into account cosmic cycles and the rhythms of nature. Today all our cuvées are « organic » and “Biodynamic Demeter” cerified by Ecocert This approach, along with the judicious choice of 18 noble grape varieties, and the savoir-faire of the winemaker, contributes to the wines’ exceptional quality: balanced, rich in colour and aroma, with silky tannins. In 2021 the estate will be extended by an additional 12 ha of Côtes-du-Rhone and Massif d'Uchaux CdR Villages 100 years of history and the history of 5 generations: a saga of a century and 5 generations It all started around 1920 in Piolenc, a pretty little Provencal village located at the foot of the Massif d'Uchaux a few kilometers from Avignon in the Rhône Valley. At that time, Sophie SIMIAN, the last owner with this the name, having no descendants, decided to bequeath the keys of her home to a young woman who for years had worked for her in a loyal and devoted manner. Marcelle LADRET therefore lives her loyalty rewarded. Once the inheritance tax had been settled, the lucky heiress and her husband set out to restore the premises and expand the vineyard. A few years later, their daughter Madeleine was old enough to get married. Precisely, a few places away, in the town of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, a young winegrower, Yves SERGUIER spent most of his time passionately cultivating his vines. He had just succeeded his father Marcel who himself had inherited the plots acquired at the beginning of the century by Hippolyte SERGUIER, a winegrower employee. Yves' passion increased tenfold when he met Madeleine, and from 1955 both moved to live in CHATEAU SIMIAN. In 1957, Jean-Pierre their only son was born. After training at the wine school in Beaune in Burgundy, he took over the family estate and in 1981 realized the dream of four generations of winegrowers: to vinify and bottle his wine at the estate. It is finally in 2008 that Jean-Pierre began to take an organic and bio-dynamic approach to the running of the vineyard . His young eldest son Florian and his daughter Marion are now also involved in running the estate. Under their new impetus, the vineyard will grow in 2021 from 66 acres to 96 acres. Today the winery produces and sell 2 major brands: SIMIAN and LES CLEFS DU CALADAS
