In the Le Grix de la Salle family since 1846, Château Le Grand Verdus is a family winery is one of the witnesses of this new surge of modernity and agroecological responsibility which is taking hold in Bordeaux area. One of leading wineries, with direct export to more than 35 countries. Located in Sadirac, Thomas and Edouard Le Grix de la Salle are now in charge of the family winery. Complementary, they both brought their Savoir-Faire in the family business. For several years, wines are aged stainless steel/concrete tanks but also in amphorae and Burgundy barrels. The organic conversion of 115 hectares of vines (2023), plantation of grape varieties "outside Bordeaux" (Syrah in 2019, Chenin in 2021) demonstrates their desir to develop the estate without giving up traditional Bordeaux values. Diversity is the key: 50 plots and large altitude variations creates a complex mosaic of soils; alternately limestones, clays and gravels. Assets which naturally outline the unique personality of Grand Verdus wines. 15 originals cuvées, unique in their style.
On the hillsides of the right bank of the Garonne River, 40 km south of Bordeaux, our 20-hectare vineyard extends across two neighboring villages.
On the northern slopes of the Loupiac appellation, clay-limestone soils provide ideal conditions for the production of great sweet white wines. In the commune of Omet, 3 km from Loupiac, south to south-west facing hillsides give rise to our red, rosé, dry white and semi-sweet wines, grown on clay-gravel and clay-limestone soils.
From vineyard to cellar, each step is guided by the pursuit of terroir expression and personality in our wines. The estate offers a range born of family passion and know-how, combining modern technology with respect for the land and the environment.
Today, Martine, Bernard, Julien, Romain and Marie-Charlotte are fully involved in the daily life of the estate. Since 2019, the entire vineyard has been undergoing conversion to Organic Farming.
