Co-exhibitor of RHONE VALLEY VINEYARDS
The domain was founded in 1467 (it will celebrate its 555th anniversary this year) by "Louis III of Naples" for "Jean de Joanis", a great servant of the king. Today, it is the largest private domain in Luberon with its 400 hectares. Château Val Joanis has the particularity of being in one piece and entirely located in the Luberon Regional Natural Park. It has been certified as High Environmental Value since 2019. The vineyard extends over hills and terraces between 200 and 400 meters in altitude. One of the main characteristics of the property is the great diversity of terroirs. Red clays at the entrance of the domain, clay-limestone in the area known as "white", white limestones on the northeast foothills, rocky aggregates on the straight plateau, and finally, rounded pebbles on the left plateau at 400 meters altitude. The vineyard is divided into 71 plots. This fabulous diversity of terroirs allows for the development of numerous grape varieties (7 red and 7 white). The signature of Val Joanis wines is the freshness and incredible balance of the wines.
