Located in the South of France, bordered by the Rhône river, Château La Nerthe estate represents 220 acres & 57 plots, a unique combination devoted to create rich and complex Châteauneuf-du-Pape wines. The history of the estate began in 1560 with the Tulles de Villefranche family: their wines were recognized and appreciated during 3 centuries. Famille Richard, current owner, has been pursuing this tradition of excellence & innovation for over 35 years. Since then, the Richard family works as a pioneer to achieve organic certification in 1998.
The other properties of 'Famille Richard' are the following:
Beaujolais: Château de Corcelles and Château des Tours (Crus du Beaujolais: Brouilly, Fleurie, Morgon)
Bordeaux: Château Victoria (Haut-Médoc Cru Bourgeois) - Château de Barbe & Château Escalette (Côtes de Bourg) - Château Gantonnet (Bordeaux Entre-deux-mers)
Since 1892, founder Henri Richard began his wine career at age 22 and started developing the family business in the 1930s when Richard Wines were born! As wine blenders, and at an early stage, bottlers for the Parisian restaurant industry, the Richard family moved through the various French wine regions searching for unique terroirs. Since its first acquisition in the 1950s, Domaines Richard has grown organically and today includes 600 hectares spread through three emblematic wine regions: Southern Rhône Valley, Beaujolais, and Bordeaux.
