The Historic family House of Champagne Cattier has been nurturing their 1er Cru Vineyards on the Mountain de Reims since 1625 and is now in the thirteenth generation of family stewardship. The family have been producing their own Champagne since 1916 and Alexandre Cattier, who is both Winemaker and head of the business, is now the fourth generation to curate these fabulous wines.
The Cattier family have always been acutely aware of their responsibility to hand the vineyards over to the next generation, so have always been at the forefront of environmental and sustainable practices, relying on nature rather than chemicals to get the best from the land and to provide the highest quality grapes for their wines. This approach is perfectly demonstrated in the horse-drawn ploughs used in the historic Clos du Moulin walled vineyard (one of the original handful), a 2.2 hectare vineyard in a prime location and used for only the most outstanding vintages.
With the best Meunier grapes, wines aged for a minimum of 4 years in chalk and a family history second to none, this is a Champagne House to discover and savour.
