About

Who Are We?

Chai Berteaud Manceau is the story of two childhood friends united by a shared project: creating modern, local, and ethical wines. Driven by our love for wine, we launched a micro-négoce specializing in Loire Valley wines.

  • Kevin, with seven years of experience as a viticulture consultant in Bordeaux, is our vineyard expert. He seeks out the best plots and uncovers hidden gems.
  • Pierre has honed his craft across the world, working in renowned vineyards such as Château Latour (Bordeaux), Opus One (California), Cloudy Bay (New Zealand), and M. Chapoutier (Australia). These rich experiences have shaped his expertise in transforming grapes into beautiful, authentic wines.

The Vineyards

We collaborate with 8 carefully selected producers who share our values. Their vineyards, with 11 plots, are located in the western Loire Valley around Nantes, Angers, and south Vendée.

Our selection is based on:

  • Organic practices: Prioritizing vineyards with grass cover and sustainable agronomic methods.
  • Shared values: We establish long-term relationships with our growers, maintaining open communication, finding compromises during difficult years, and ensuring fair prices for their grapes.

We visit the selected plots monthly to closely monitor their progress, ensuring the highest quality for our wines.

The Wines

We produce authentic and modern wines. Our terroir wines are vinified with wild yeats, stainless steel tanks and low intervention to maximise the terroirs expression. Why modern? cause we don't add any sugar, we do not standardise the wines and we have a creative, identifiable and reduced packaging. It makes authentic wines with a real identity, low alcohol (around 12%) and adapted to today's market.

We produce Chenin, Melon B, Gamay, Cabernet Franc and Chardonnay.
