CascinAdelaide rests quietly underground, cradled by a small stream where two slopes meet. From the earth itself it gently emerges, offering a fleeting glimpse into its hidden heart, where grapes ferment and slowly begin their transformation into wine.
CascinAdelaide was born from a dream: the dream of Amabile Drocco. In January 2021, after her degree, his granddaughter Chiara stepped into the cellar and vineyards. Now at 29, guided by the love for her land passed down by her grandfather, she took on the responsibility of leading the estate, embracing both its history and its future.
The winery was founded in 2000 at the foot of the medieval castle of Barolo, today, CascinAdelaide tends 12 hectares of vineyards, 10 of which are dedicated entirely to Nebbiolo da Barolo, spread across eight historic crus in five different villages of the Barolo area: Cannubi, Bussia, Baudana, Fossati, Preda, Sorano, Costabella and Pernanno.
The remaining two hectares are home to other traditional varieties — Barbera, Langhe Nebbiolo, Dolcetto di Diano d’Alba, and Nascetta, the estate’s only white grape, an ancient and native variety of the Novello area.
Although the vineyards could yield up to 120,000 bottles each year, CascinAdelaide chooses a different path. Through careful attention and a constant search for balance, production is gently limited to around 50,000 bottles annually — each one a quiet expression of the land, shaped by time, nature and authenticity.
