Buglioni is an Italian grape-growing family led by Alfredo Buglioni and his son Mariano, who chose to devote themselves to winemaking in the early 1990s with the goal of becoming one of the leading producers in Valpolicella.
Starting from the first 3.5 hectares of vineyard purchased with the house where the family still lives, today the two "Teste Dure" grow their own grapes on 50 hectares of vineyards in Valpolicella Classica, 5 ha in Lugana, and 5 in Bardolino’s area, organically run since 2019.
Quality and respect are the values that guide our choices in the field: all the vineyards are estate grown and managed directly, cultivated with systems that bring lower yields in favour of a better product and only hand-harvested.
Alongside the traditional Valpolicella’s grape -Corvina, Corvinone, Oseleta, Rondinella and Molinara- over the years Croatina, Garganega and Incrocio Manzoni have been added.
On Garda Lake, we grow Trebbiano di Lugana in Lugana and Corvina in Bardolino’s area.
Tradition and research together to safeguard and preserve the sensuality of the Valpolicella terroir: this is the recipe for Buglioni wines, a combination of science and soul along with a touch of happines.
A focus on ‘things done well, as they used to be’ that leads to the choice of ancient ageing processes - such as cement and amphora - that celebrate the elegance that links the vineyard to the bottle, man to nature.
Buglioni devotes the same commitment in producing both wines for everyday occasions and two selection products that tell of the desire to push the potential of Valpolicella's indigenous grapes.
The wines are fine, free of concentration, with soft, yet not overbearing tannins. A production that highlights the freshness of the fruit, fragrance and crispness, an expression of the relationship between grape and vine grower.
