Bodegas Vinicola Real is a family business created in 1989 by Miguel Angel Rodriguez, the winemaker and owner of the company.The bodega stands in the historic town of Albelda de Iregua which has deep mediaeval roots. With his first signature wine, "200 Monges", Miguel Angel paid tribute to the monks in the Monastery of San Martín de Albelda, who were responsible for writing the Codex Vigilanus in 976 AD, although the monastery was destroyed in 1683 by a rockslide.

Vinícola Real is a low-output bodega specialising in the highest quality wines, using grapes from its own vineyards. The bodega has the perfect size and layout for handling the grapes and making the wines, whilst allowing the winemaker to experiment and innovate.
