Co-exhibitor of Wines of Hungary
Exciting fine white wines - dry or sweet - representatives of modern and contemporary Tokaj from a legendary volcanic terroir.
The estate produces several single-vineyard dry Furmint and Hárslevelű and even sweet botrytised (Aszú and Szamorodni) wines with accent on the utmost quality and determination to reflect the "terroir," the essence of the soil beneath the vines.
Aszú, the iconic wine of the Tokaj region, - UNESCO Wold Heritage site - with its very unique vinification of botrytised berries, is only produced in the very best vintages, typically 3-4 times out of 10 years.
The main grapes used are the autochthonous Furmint and Hárslevelű.
The winery, founded in 2005 by winemaker István Balassa, spans 17.6 hectares across 45 parcels in 11 vineyards, most of which are historically classified as grand cru, with the most prominent Szent Tamás. These vineyards are situated in the legendary volcanic wine region around the most famous historical villages of Tokaj, Tarcal, and Mád.
