Co-exhibitor of PIEMONTE LAND OF WINE
A four generations passion
History of the farm
Azienda Agricola Marrone can be found in Annunziata near La Morra, in the middle of the Langhe of Barolo, which overlooks the medieval town of Alba. The farm is founded on making excellent wines that demonstrate the intense flavors of the Langhe area and are different from typical commercial styles.
For four generations Agricola Marrone has run grandfather Pietro’s work, which is a guarantee of quality.
Today is Gian Piero, Pietro’s grandson, together with his wife Giovanna and their three daughters Denise, Serena and Valentina, who accomplish the activity of his grandfather with the same passion and dedication.
The vineyards
Today the company vineyards are located in different positions, allowing Agricola Marrone to grow different grape varieties (Arneis, Chardonnay, Dolcetto, Barbera, Nebbiolo, Barolo and Moscato) in the best soil and position. The oldest vineyards are 60 years old: the old vines allow to produce wines of exceptional quality, with excellent ageing potential and traditional styles, thanks also to the traditional ways of working, first of all in the fields, where the harvesting is done manually, and there is no use of pesticides or chemicals, which are dangerous to the health and the environment.
The land where Agricola Marrone is located is formed of various soil compositions, in fact Nebbiolo vines, planted in an area of around 40 kilometers diameter, produce very different wines, such as Barolo, Barbaresco, Roero and Nebbiolo d’Alba.
The cellar
Agricola Marrone produces around 200.000 bottles per year, with the production increasing every year, thanks to production from new vines.
The cellar, recently restored, can be visited all year round on appointment, with the possibility to organize a guided tasting.
