Co-exhibitor of WINES OF PORTUGAL
Adega de Redondo brings together around 200 producers, representing more than 75% of viticulture in the Redondo sub-region, and is one of the largest and most dynamic cooperative wineries in Portugal.
Adega de Redondo is well known in Portugal and around the world, especially through the brand Porta da Ravessa, a name that has become a true ambassador of the quality and authenticity of Alentejo wines.
In an average year, Adega de Redondo produces around ten million liters of wine.
Modern and well-equipped vinification and bottling facilities make the most of the quality of the grapes received, under the supervision of our young but very experienced winemaker Mariana Cavaca.
The presence of Serra d'Ossa, to the north and east, is decisive in the quality of the grapes and wines produced at Adega de Redondo, allowing for more balanced maturation and, consequently, the production of citrus white wines, very fresh and aromatic, as well as very pleasant and smooth red wines to be consumed while young, but also the production of more structured and concentrated wines with good aging potential.
The climate of the Redondo sub-region is particularly suitable for the development of sustainable viticulture, based on biodiversity and environmental protection. Adega de Redondo promotes these practices among its associates, thus contributing to the production of more genuine and environmentally responsible wines, which is why it joined the Wines of Alentejo Sustainability Programme.
The wines at Adega de Redondo are made from traditional Alentejo grape varieties such as Trincadeira, Aragonez, Alicante Bouschet or Castelão and the white grape varieties Roupeiro, Fernão Pires, Antão Vaz, Rabo de Ovelha or Arinto. But Adega de Redondo does not leave innovation aside, encouraging the planting of grape varieties with high potential in this region, such as the red Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca and Syrah and the white Verdelho, among others.
